Program® (lufenuron)

For the prevention and control of flea infestations in dogs and cats.
Properties
The active ingredient in Program® is lufenuron (an insect growth regulator).
Lufenuron interrupts the flea breeding cycle by preventing the development of flea eggs and larvae. It does this by inhibiting the synthesis and action of chitin. Chitin is a key part of a flea’s shell, and is found in the egg, larval and adult stages.
Adult fleas that feed on an animal treated with Program will produce eggs or larvae that do not develop to the adult stage. Therefore reducing the number of fleas in the environment.
Indiciations
Program prevents and controls flea infestations in dogs and cats. It is active against the cat flea Ctenocephalides felis.
Dosage and Administration
Program comes in tablets for dogs, and both an injectable and oral suspension for cats.

Formulations and Packaging
Program comes in tablets for dogs, and both an injectable and oral suspension for cats.
For dogs there are four tablet strengths:
- Program tablets containing 23.1mg lufenuron
- Program tablets containing 67.8mg lufenuron
- Program tablets containing 204.9mg lufenuron
- Program tablets containing 409.8mg lufenuron
All four tablet sizes are available in cardboard boxes with one card containing six blistered tablets.
For cats there are two ampoule sizes, available in boxes with six ampoules in an aluminum foil pouch:
- Program ampoule containing 133mg lufenuron
- Program ampoule containing 266mg lufenuron
Safety
Program is safe to use in weaned puppies and kittens from 6 weeks of age.
