Product Type
Oral, three-way combination anthelmintic for the treatment and control of roundworms, lungworm, nasal bot and itch mite in sheep.
Properties
Pyrimide 3 combines the strength of an abamectin-based triple combination
With new Stable Suspension Technology (SST) to make sure that correct doses
of all three components are given with every drench.
PYRIMIDE® is a ready-to-use, abamectin-based, broad spectrum triple drench.
The active ingredients in PYRIMIDE are abamectin, levamisole and albendazole. PYRIMIDE also contains the mineral supplements selenium and cobalt.
Three way action for maximum power:
Pyrimide 3 combines full doses of three active ingredients, each from a different drench group: abamectin (ML or ‘mectin’), levamisole (‘clear’) and albendazole (‘white’ or BZ ).
While many worms are resistant to a single chemical, fewer are resistant to a dual combination. It makes sense then that a triple combination drench provides far greater efficacy against resistance than a single or double drench, as worms are rarely resistant to three drench families.
The abamectin advantage:
Abamectin combines high potency to kill worms, with low persistence. In particular, abamectin has frequently been shown to effectively remove ivermectin-resistant worms.1,2 Abamectin also has shorter persistence than moxidectin, reducing the likelihood that resistance will develop.2

For best results, start now
Combination drenches are best used before drench resistance occurs in your sheep. However, a broad spectrum triple drench such as Pyrimide 3 can provide control where resistance already exists.
Be sure to give the full dose every time – with Pyrimide’s Stable Suspension Technology
The components of many traditional combinations separate and settle, which means sheep are at risk of being underdosed, a major contributor to the problem of drench resistance.
With new Pyrimide 3 you can be confident that the full dose of each chemical is provided with every drench, as the active ingredients are suspended in exactly the right proportions. The components do not settle or separate as quickly or as readily as other triple or quad drenches.
Indications
PYRIMIDE is effective against:
- Sensitive, single and dual resistant strains of gastrointestinal parasites.
- Lungworm, nasal bot and itch mite.
A broad spectrum, triple drench such as PYRIMIDE can provide control where resistance already exists.
It is recommended that the effectiveness of anthelmintics is checked at least annually and it is advised that a drench resistance test be conducted before any drench is used.

Dosage and Administration
The recommended dose rate is:
-
1mL per 4kg body weight (corresponding to 200µg abamectin, 7.5mg levamisole, 5mg albendazole, 0.1mg selenium and 0.44mg cobalt per kg) for the treatment and control of adult and immature gastrointestinal roundworms, nasal bot, large lungworm and itch mite in sheep in Australia.
Dose orally using standard, properly calibrated drenching equipment. Check the accuracy of drench guns before and during drenching.
PYRIMIDE provides the recommended level of selenium supplementation for sheep (0.1mg/kg liveweight).
DO NOT underdose. Ensure each sheep receives and swallows the full dose.
A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment. Dose the mob to the heaviest animal in each group . DO NOT underdose. Where there is a large variation in size within the group,. drafting into two or more lines may be appropriate, to avoid excessive overdosing.

- NOT to be used at the same time as any other selenium treatments such as vaccines, drenches and fertiliser without consulting a veterinarian.
- DO NOT administer selenium supplements at intervals of less than 3 weeks
- NOT to be administered to sheep that are dehydrated or unwell.
- NOT to be administered to lambs less than 6 weeks of age.
- Dogs or horses should not be drenched with this product.
- NOT to be used within 7 days of bromosalans flukicide treatments
Benefits and risks of feed withhold:
Avoid withholding feed from weak, pregnant and young animals. Exercise care in handling sheep and avoid unnecessary stress. The recommended dose rate should not be exceeded.
CSIRO studies show that the efficacy of both abamectin and albendazole (two of the active ingredients of PYRIMIDE) are enhanced by withholding feed for up to 24 hours before drenching. However, field experience indicates that withholding water and feed will make sheep more susceptible to levamisole toxicity. Drought conditions may increase this risk. Before use of PYRIMIDE, it is recommended that water has been continuously available and feed either not withheld, or withheld for not more than 12 hours.
For parasite management recommendations for your area to reduce resistance development, contact your local veterinarian or animal health adviser.
Withholding Period
MEAT – DO NOT USE less than 14 days before slaughter for human consumption.
EXPORT SLAUGHTER INTERVAL – DO NOT USE less than 42 days before slaughter for export.
MILK – DO NOT USE in sheep which are producing, or may in the future produce milk where the milk or milk products may be used for human consumption.
DO NOT re-treat animals for 42 days after last treatment.
See product label for full instructions.
